Don't go in blind! The 'build it and they will come' mentality DOES NOT work in this ever growing web. Before you even start selecting your market niche you will need to know how successful it will be!
Know Your Numbers And Market Inside Out!
Before you need to figure out what your market potential is and then know it inside out. To get a grasp of just how large your market potential really could be, you need to understand what your product or service offers to people, how it will benefit them and why they need your product or service.
These are the questions you should be asking yourself and be ready to answer..
 Who is your competition?
How are they marketing their product?
How much money do you want to spend on advertising?
Who is actually your buyer?
Why would they want to buy what you have to offer?
Take A Look At This Example
Type in 'lose weight' into Google and you will see over 45 million results. That's a competitive term but should you discard the market completely? No. Marketing your website for this search term would be take too long before you could start seeing any real results. Why not attack at a different angle away from the masses?
Now type in 'how to lose 7lbs in a week' and you'll see we come up with just over 240,000 results. Which do you think is an easier search term to target? Not only that but which visitor is more specific and know what he or she wants? Do you think this person would be more inclined to buy?
This is what most "guru's" do not tell you!
Instead of jumping from niche to niche, you must learn to recognize the 'open spaces' and gaps in markets. Although the 'weight loss' market is huge there will be niches within this niche (sub-niches) that you can monetize with a variety of products! This applies to ALL markets!
